In support of the two doctors, Washington Hematology-Oncology employs
nursing staff, laboratory staff, and front office staff.
Clinical Staff
| Shawna Fletcher, R.Ph. joined the Washington Hematology-Oncology
team as a full-time pharmacist shortly after we established the practice
on Castlevale Road. Shawna is responsible for ordering and mixing
the chemotherapeutic agents, maintaining the inventory of drugs, and
assisting the nurses with patient education. |
|
|
The two members of the clinical staff who assist patients in the
examination rooms work directly with the doctors. They take and record
patient’s vital signs, note any complaints or new symptoms for
the doctor, and help the patient prepare for the physician’s
examination. Furthermore, they are available to patients over the
phone and frequently answer questions and order prescription refills
for patients. |

We are very fortunate to have remarkably well-trained oncology certified
nurses who administer chemotherapy to our patients. They have undergone
specialized training and passed a rigorous national examination which
qualifies them as specialists in oncology nursing. Dr. Brady encourages
members of her professional nursing staff to further their education by
regularly sending them to relevant training and conferences to develop
their skills and to increase their knowledge.
Pat, Jan, Barb and Carrie are not only are highly skilled at administering
chemotherapy but each also has additional expertise which benefits our
patients. Pat, a former Home Health and Hospice nurse, has a special interest
and experience in palliative care.

She schedules and supervises the team members, assists patients with
billing questions, orders medical and office supplies, and ensures
that all of the patients’ and the physicians’ expectations

| When you first enter the Washington Hematology-Oncology
office, you will meet several very dedicated and competent staff members.
They keep the office humming by answering the phones, scheduling appointments,
and making certain that the patients’ complete medical records
are available to the clinicians. They also are responsible for ensuring
that the charges submitted to the company which does our billing are
correct and properly documented. These dedicated and experienced women
keep the office running very smoothly. |
Laboratory Staff
Sheryl |
Dr. Brady has partnered with Interpath Laboratory to establish an
extremely sophisticated laboratory located right on the office premises
so that patients don’t have to wait a long time for test results
and can be quickly diagnosed and treated in one visit. The lab is
staffed by Sheryl, a medical laboratory technician with over twenty
years of experience, and Connie. |

Transcription
Gloria |
Gloria transcribes all of Dr. Brady's dictation with remarkable
speed and accuracy. Gloria’s skills as a transcriptionist ensure
that information about a patient is communicated to his or her other
physician(s) within 36 hours of a visit with one of our doctors. All
of Gloria’s transcription is entered into an electronic medical
record called ChartConnect. This enables any member of the patient’s
treatment team to immediately access important clinical information
via computer. |
