Our nursing staff is an amazing group of caregivers. All professional staff attends on-going Professional Education through conferences, seminars, and course work, to further develop their skills and to keep their professional knowledge current and fresh. Our nurses are highly skilled professionals and bring to our practice years of experience in other Hematology/Oncology related fields.
Our Chemotherapy nurses are OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certified. This certification is a result of extensive oncology-specific training, and the passing of the national examination qualifying them as specialists in oncology nursing. Should you have questions regarding your chemotherapy or treatment course, they are a knowledgeable and experienced resource. Carrie has all worked with Hospices, and have extensive experience with Palliative Care and Pain Management.
Jan works directly with our physicians, our PA-C, and patients who are here for office visits. She triages patient calls, consults with the medical staff on our patients’ behalf, and is the nurse who will likely return you call for non-chemotherapy related issues. Jan has a 20-year history in Hospital Infusion Care and has spent several years working in Radiology.

When you first enter the Washington Hematology-Oncology office, you will be greeted by one of five smiling faces! These five ladies keep the office humming by answering/making over a hundred calls per day, preparing office charts, scheduling appointments, and making certain that the patients’ complete medical records are up to date and are available to the clinicians. Janet, Shannon, and Falisha act as in-take and check-out receptionists, while Allison and Connie focus mainly on Medical Records. However, they all are glad to jump in and help whenever extra help is needed in either area. These dedicated and experienced women keep our office running very smoothly.
Washington Hematology-Oncology has partnered with Interpath Laboratory to maintain an extremely sophisticated laboratory located right on the office premises. Patients labs are drawn either the day prior to or the day of their office or chemotherapy visit. Test results are made available immediately, for physician and nursing staff. The lab is staffed by a medical laboratory technician and a gentle and caring phlebotomist.

Shonda |
Gloria transcribes all dictation with remarkable speed and accuracy. Gloria’s skills as a transcriptionist ensure that information about a patient is communicated to his or her other physician(s) within 36 hours of a visit with one of our doctors or PA. All of Gloria’s transcription is entered into an electronic medical record called ChartConnect. This enables any member of the patient’s treatment team to immediately access important clinical information via computer. She is assisted, on a part-time basis, by Shonda. Shonda has cheerfully aided Gloria in transcription, as our practice has grown to its present size!
